The next morning comes in a blur. Literally, not metaphorically, a blur. Last night after Skylar and I met, I went back to grab a couple more drinks to keep from calling her until today. Concentrating on drinking and dancing provided the distraction I needed. Any self-control in this situation was needed— in the form of not contacting Skylar the second she left. After distracting myself for some time, I managed to get home to bed. By the time I woke up, my mind still seemed to be a bit groggy with blurred vision. Nothing a shower and a pancake breakfast couldn’t fix.

Once I feel more rejuvenated with the afternoon quickly approaching, I locate the paper with Skylar’s number on it to put into my phone. Then I sit there with my phone in my hands; a blank screen is staring at me.
